Every summer for as long as I can remember (since I was a wee child - age 2 to be exact) my family has spent a week camping at Carlsbad State Beach with all our closest family friends. When we were younger we did all kinds of activities - Lori Powell taught us how to make lanyards, Jenna Erpelding did cookie decorating with us one afternoon, we went on the big bike ride to the ice-cream shop, we played washers and double dutch, we painted our fingernails, we made things with plaster of perris and flew kites down by the water, we boogie boarded and had sand fights, played Canasta, Yahtzee, and really any other game we could get our hands on, we read books and went for walks, played mermaid in the water, and hung out in each other's campers as often as possible. It is a GRAND adventure. Monday was a furlough day for Ev. Free so I took the opportunity to go visit my family and sweet friends staying at the beach this week. There is something so RIGHT about Carlsbad - it looks and smells like summer to me. Anna, Jenny, and I were all there together on Monday which marks our 23 year of Carlsbad together. How amazing! We don't do the activities we did as kids as much anymore - but we read magazines (BRIDAL - Jenny's wedding is just over a year away) and lay out, we got coffee at Starbucks, chatted in each other's campers, and enjoyed some time around the campfire. It was the perfect way to spend my furlough day and I can't wait to be back there on Saturday to play with Kevin, Jamie, and sweet Madeline!! FUN IN THE SUN TO COME! yay!
{This life is not at all what I expected and yet I long to live fully and with great joy as I make the very most of my one wild and crazy adventure. Regardless of what the circumstances may hold, I have NO DOUBT there is a great and mighty plan and I am eagerly anticipating all the King has in store for me}
