A 3 post weekend – post 3

We slept in just a bit on our furlough Monday (Steven’s Vacation Day) and then had a DELUCTIBLE breakfast of French toast, potatoes, sausage, fresh strawberries (FROM THE FIELD) and pineapple. With our bellies full, we got ready and then hopped in the car. Our first stop was in Summerland for coffee (much NEEDED by this point in the weekend) and a walk through the most interesting heap of a place I’ve seen. It had all kinds of crazy outdoor decorations and the WORLD’S LARGEST DOORS (priced at a moderate $15,500) that Megan is convinced she needs for her house. We then drove through Montecito and saw Oprah’s house (from a distance)and stopped in Pierre Lafond where Ellen has been spotted previously. We then walked through downtown Santa Barbara with a quick stop in Anthropologie and Borders – two of our favorite places on earth. THEN we were hungry again so we went back to Montecito for dinner at one of Kenzie’s favorite spots. MEXICAN FOOD IS SOOOOOO GOOD! We all had delicious meals and were SUPER FULL again, so we decided to go for a walk on the beach. We walked along butterfly beach and watched the beautiful sunset over the ocean. There really isn’t anywhere in the world like California. Although I don’t want to live here forever, I’m so glad that I have truly experienced it…childhood away from the beach is just sad! After our leisurely stroll it was time to head back to Ventura, pack up the car, and drive back to Orange County. Of course we had to fit in a quick reading from David Sedaris before leaving Steven in the dust but all too soon we were back on the road with the weekend fading as a memory as we drove away. We grabbed Starbucks on our way out of town and the rest is history! It was a FABULOUS 3 post weekend and I really could not have hoped for anything better for a FURLOUGH day!
