ALICE ROCKED!

so I have a confession…when I was at Megan’s on Sunday for the 2nd Annual Oscars Party, she admitted than she had gone to see Alice and that she HATED IT…which led to unsolicited yet very real doubts for me. I GOT THE FEAR! There are FEW people in movies that I find more fascinating than Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp in coordination with Tim Burton – the combination is just strange. Since the FIRST poster went up on a billboard in LA I have been eagerly anticipating the release of Alice in Wonderland and I can now honestly say it did NOT disappoint. I LOVED IT. Helena ROCKED as the Red Queen and Alice’s costuming was FABULOUS! NOT TO MENTION that Absolem, the Blue Caterpillar, is the voice of Alan Rickman aka. SEVERUS SNAPE from Harry Potter which only intensified my love for all things Alice. I should probably ALSO qualify this “Alice love” with another admission – I have a special place in my heart for children’s books and although Alice doesn’t entirely fall into that category, the movie exemplified the basis for why I am rendered unable to remain bitter, sad, angry, disappointed and find myself immediately inflated with joy when reading a tale written with a small child in mind. There is something magical, whimsical, perfect about children’s books. They are FABULOUS. They find a way to take imagination and cause it to soar above reality making life seem just a little bit more possible while still reminding us of the type of behavior that is appropriate for everyday life. Writing a children’s book is definitely on my life list…maybe someday soon the Lord will inspire me with a stunning idea that can captivate the heart of children everywhere! I would LOVE that!
