THAT dad...

I know that Father’s Day is now in the past, but I wanted to take just a few moments to commemorate my amazing Dad in honor of the Hallmark holiday we recently enjoyed. I am so thankful and overwhelmingly blessed to have a father that has always been there for me. As a child I didn’t totally understand the sacrifices he made to be so present in my life, but now I do and I am forever grateful. I have the Dad that took the lower salary job with mediocre raises so that he could be home every night for dinner…the dad who went to work early on the days that I had swim meets so that he could be there in time to see me swim the 100 back…the dad who attended every piano recital, school production, and choir concert not to mention the myriad of other events I so desperately wanted him to be at. I have the dad that told me repeatedly throughout my life that I am the most beautiful girl he has ever seen and that he is so proud of me. I have the dad who stayed married to my mom and chose to fight after all us kids were in bed so that we never worried if our parents were getting a divorce. I have the dad that spent hours searching through the elementary school dumpsters in hopes of finding my retainer which was most definitely supposed to be in the case and in my backpack {whoops}…the dad kissed me (on the lips) every night before I went to bed and told me he loved me…the dad that STILL kisses me (on the lips) and tells me he loves me every single time I come home for a visit. I have the dad that wrote me notes to read on the plane each time I went out of the country and emails me at work just to check in…the dad who ends every email with I love you MOST! I have THAT dad and I couldn’t be more blessed!
