ELLEN DAY!!!!!

Monday was ELLEN DAY and although I was totally exhausted from WEDDING WEEKEND, I managed to have an absolute blast! Wooot! Ellen’s people sent me 4 GUARANTEED tickets for the May 17. 2010 taping so Megan, Kenz, and Shalina joined me on the adventure. Super cute outfits were an absolute must, so Shalina went on a shopping spree (and blamed me), I saved a ridiculously bright floral cardi from the Gap, Gan wore a chartreuse cardi, and Kenz wore an orange shirt with a khaki jacket and her fun coral flower pinned on. WE WERE DARLING. We started our day with lunch at BJ’s in downtown Burbank (I had the chicken caesar sandwich and french fries in case you were wondering. FAVORITE!) and then made a quick stop @ Starbucks for beverages (or dessert if you’re Shalina) before heading to the waiting area. When we got there the place seemed almost empty and for just a minute we thought maybe we could be the first ones in line. FARSE. However, we DID get tickets 35, 36, 37, and 38 which is a far cry better than our 312, 313, and 314 from March. We waited around for a long time and said many a thankful prayer that we did not end up on the Justin Beiber show. NO THANK YOU. and then we were escorted across the “busy street” like an army of small children. It probably took them 7 or 8 security guards to ensure our safety. Intense. When we got in the studio, we were seated IN THE DANCING ROW in DEAD CENTER. We were sure to get a close up of Ellen AND a moment of fame. The interns revved up the audience with some singing and dancing – including Don’t Stop Believing which is a personal favorite (thanks Glee). Shalina and I had our fake microphones out and we were INTO IT. So much fun making memories like that with my sweet roommate. After we were thoroughly excited, TONY the DJ came out and only moments later we were watching Ellen DeGeneres herself walk onto the stage. THAT is when I almost lost it (thankfully Shalina leaned over and reminded me to take a deep breath!). She did her summer movie preview and then there was a surprise visit from Jaden Smith – he is pretty impressive – but the amount of applause he got was NOT healthy for a little go. After the commercial break, Steve Carell was the first guest…he managed to say the Mystery Word: Penny Loafers which meant that the studio audience received $100 gift cards to Gold Class Cinemas (thank you Ellen!!) so we all jumped up and clapped like maniacs yet again.Next up was the duet by James Taylor and Carole King: You’ve Got a Friend it was darling and I decided that I’m going to dance to THAT song with my dad at my wedding. How perfect (can you tell I’m still in wedding mode?? Ha!) James Taylor and Carole King seriously were SO cute. Nikki Reed (Twilight) was the final guest of the day but when she announced that she had tickets to the premiere of Twilight some seriously CRAZY (and totally unattractive even on the playback) girl jumped up and made a complete fool of herself. I’m really glad that none of us are into Twilight THAT much (Shalina would have probably had a coronary if it had been someone from the Vampire Vortex…but Twilight MOVIES {not to be confused with the books} are not her end all in life). The taping itself was super fun for the first 30-40 minutes after which point my hands started to hurt, my throat was a little tired, and my head ACHED but it was definitely WORTH it…and we DID make it on tv (barely but we found ourselves) so now we’re famous – and who wouldn’t go through lunch out, starbucks, and lots of clapping and dancing for the potential FAME that followed…
