what a weekend...

well, it was a fun-filled and fabulous weekend for me - although i must admit i am COMPLETELY exhausted today! it started on Thursday evening with a trip to THE DIZ in honor of Megan's 23rd birthday. it was a really quick trip since we both worked during the day and had to work the next day as well...we rode the haunted mansion - and attempted to get mint juleps - caught the last 30 seconds of the "not a parade" and then headed home.i think 23 looks really good on her! :) isn't she GORGEOUS! loveyou so much friend. anyway, friday night brought part 2 of the celebrating. right after work we had dinner at the Whole Enchilada - i think it is becoming our official "place" (mexican food is a great option for gluton intolerant and vegetarian friends!!) and then went to Rowland Heights for massages. now, for clarifications sake, i should probably mention that these weren't just ANY massages - Happy Feet is a "Health Center" the massage starts with 1/2 hour or less (depending on how busy they are) on a heated massage table (aka the TORTURE CHAMBER) it feels REALLY good for the first 10 minutes - but when the table gets up to 116 degrees and you anticipate the massager getting to the small of your back because you're sure your spine is now bruised, its probably time to get off. however, surviving the torture chamber is a MUST because the second portion of the massage is DIVINE! your feet are immersed in a bamboo tub of hott water with rose petals floating on top while your back, shoulder, and neck (or head if you're Megan) get a generous rub. Once you're loose and relaxed, you lie-back in the recliner while the masseuese (although i'm sure they are NOT licensed) rubs your feet and legs for at least 30 minutes with essential oils. there really is NOTHING better! the massage concludes with 10 minutes full body massage on the regular beds (you know, the ones where you put your face through the hole). the entire thing costs a mere $20 with a $5 tip, the entire event can be budgeted for on a weekly or monthly basis (dependent entirely upon your salary and the length of time it takes the bruises from the torture chamber to heal prior to your next visit! ha!) it really is amazing. our massages were followed by the 3rd official meeting of the HOT TUB CLUB (we missed you Rach) where the cabana dad brought us green apple cider and even did a little dance for us! it was a LEGIT night to say the least.

Saturday brought part 3 of the birthday adventure weekend. A delightful breakfast of gluton-free belgian waffles, strawberries, sasuage, and hash browns was served at Megan's at about 10:30am. after it was cleaned up (at least slightly) Megan, Kenzie, and I headed to the LA ZOO for an exotic animal adventure. it was SO FUN seeing all the animals and just enjoying time together. as we drove home, we listened to Adventures in Odyssey and reminisced about childhood. we grabbed dinner at in-n-out and then called it a night. i sincerely hope that megan felt celebrated and loved (even if the quest for the MOST AWESOME ZOO CUP EVER was a complete and utter failure!)!!

sunday wasn't NEARLY as fun - i went to a Baldwin Company meeting to discuss the unfortunate downturn of our company in 2012 (i know - its in the future in the past - this computer program is wierd!) and then grabbed a bunch of stuff from my house because i'm staying with megan at her house while her parents are out of town for a couple of weeks. there was a minor roommate altercation (one roommate is moving out - decisions have to be made about how we're going to move forward - always a bit stressful - especially when people don't want to share a room anymore but don't have any additional $ to invest in rent) talked to my parents on the phone briefly and then watched HARPER's ISLAND with megan before calling the weekend OVER!

the days ahead are FULL of plans, Jenny is moving, Becka is having a baby shower, the Trustee Board is having a dinner, Rachel's sisters are in town from Colorado, Pasta Night with Lizzy is on the calendar, Madeline is turning 1, the Baldwin Company has a presentation...whew...busy busy busy... hopefully it will ALL be as fun as the weekend was...well...maybe it will at least come close.
