This weekend brought the annual trip to DeAnza cove to celebrate FAMILY with my mom and as many of the relatives as possible. This year was particularly fun since cousin Kym was able to come with kiddos in tow all the way from Alaska. I drove down in ridiculous traffic on Saturday afternoon and got to San Diego right around dinnertime. LOVE COSTCO PIZZA!
After dinner (and some chocolate cake) we played a game of Yahtzee with cousin Nathan and then headed out for a family walk where we discussed all kinds of meaningless details pertaining to each of our personal lives.
Upon our return we visited with the family for a bit and then headed to the 5th wheel to tuck in for the night (which basically meant we each climbed into bed (or rather a table turned bed), turned on a personal light (or lantern), and started to read).
We got up on Sunday morning and first on the list was NAILPOLISH! I painted my nails and was joined by cousin Mykaela…by the time Julie was up, there was an all out salon making use of the astro-turf we refer to as grass.
Sunday was the BIG FAMILY LUNCH so we each gathered up our assigned dish and made our way to the eating station (basically a WHOLE BUNCH of picnic tables lined up under EZ-UPS) the food was mostly delicious but I had to throw out a few white trash bashing comments to all responsible for showing up with KFC – come on…we’re already camping here…don’t make it worse!
We spent the afternoon laughing and playing another game of Yahtzee…Julie rollerbladed with 3 wheels rather than the typical 4 and we attempted to take a family picture which always turns us into a total laughing stock.
The final score for the weekend was: white trash family reunion 6 classy shindigs 2 (we did have brushetta and shrimp cocktail – that has to count for something!).
