Already Missing My little M!!!

This weekend with the M girl was so much fun and totally exhausting at the same time!! Surprise Surprise… I guess that is what you get with a 19-month old!  Kevin, Jamie, and Madeline arrived at my house somewhere between 8:00 and 8:30 on Friday night after a FULL day at Disneyland and they were ALL exhausted!! We immediately sat down to a YUMMY dinner of Chick-Fil-A {thanks for the BOGO coupons – what a deal!!} and gave Mads some alternatives like blueberries and apple slices {both fruits that she recognizes and can name! cute!}. After dinner we put M-love in the bathtub!!! She is DARLING in there splashing around, etc. then wrapped her up in a towel and then into her jammies for nahnight time! She was totally enamored with my stairs though – so she had to play on them for a while before she could settle in for the night! She looked like a miniature Tarzan running up and down them! She fell asleep around 9:30pm in my bedroom and then Kevin, Jamie, and I headed downstairs to catch up a bit. We talked for a while and watched 2 episodes of the office while hanging out and laughing a LOT! By around 12:30 we were totally wiped out and another day of Disney fun was coming – so it was time to tuck in. I went into my bedroom to get face wash {BAD MOVE} and Madeline IMMEDIATELY woke up. It took a little while to calm her down, but she eventually went back to sleep. Then around 4am she woke up again…this time calming her down took a LOT more effort. I texted sincere apologies to my roommates for waking them in the MIDDLE of the night and then proceeded to try and comfort Madeline. She ended up being quite the cuddle monster and laid in bed with me and Jamie for over an hour. Then spontaneous she said, Night Night?? And we asked her if she wanted to go back to bed and she said yeah. So back to sleep she went until about 8:00am. Not TOO bad I suppose – but not the BEST night of sleep I’ve ever gotten {yes, she is ABSOLUTELY worth it!}. We got up in the morning and played and watched cartoony type things for a bit. Then it was time for a YUMMY breakfast of pumpkin pancakes, blueberry pancakes, eggs, and sausage links with Orange Peach Mango Juice from Traders to drink. FAVORITE. After breakfast they were off to California Adventure and I cleaned the kitchen while Craig and Shalina finished off the leftovers! Ha! I got upstairs just in time to chat with Shalina for a bit before getting dressed, putting makeup on, doing SOMETHING (not a very cute something) with my hair and then heading to downtown Disney to pick Madeline up so that she could get a good nap in while Mom and Dad played on the REAL rides. Well when I got to downtown Disney, she was in good spirits, but when we sat down for lunch she totally MELTED down! So we ate VERY quickly and threw her in the car and headed home. She screamed bloody murder for approximately 15 minutes and then collapsed and fell asleep. She fought a really good fight but in the end she succumbed. When we got home, I had to wake M up a bit to get her out of her car-seat and then she was a cuddle-monster like NEVER before. M is not usually a cuddler – but it is OH SO FUN when she is! I asked her if she wanted to go upstairs and go night night in her bed and she said, “no, hold you” {she says hold you instead of hold me.}. So I did. I held her for the next 2 hours and I loved EVERY SECOND!!! We just cuddled and cuddled and cuddled. There is NOTHING IN THE WORLD like baby sugar!! After naptime we went to the park to play with Megan and Henry and ride the swings and see the ducks. She was very excited and had a great time. We talked about how ducks go quack quack quack and dogs say woof woof. There was one CRAZY MEAN goose. He is HUGE and brown and he tried to peck my sweet baby – so I protected her – but he really was fierce! After the park we had dinner and then it was time to go home. I already miss my M but it was SO FUN having a weekend together. Now I can’t wait for her to be like 5 years old and to WANT to come spend the night with Aunt Shells! She is going to be SO MUCH FUN for the rest of my life! YAY!

What a wonderful auntie you are! Enjoy every second (and I doubt you will have to wait until she is 5 before she begs to come to your house--just ask my kiddos. ;))
