Every year on New Year's Eve, my family participates in the traditional dinner at Nicolosis' followed by a movie at Edwards Rancho San Diego and then a party including a driveway fire pit, watching the ball drop, banging pots and pans, and lying in the street at the Powell's! I am not sure how many years we have been doing this (probably at least 10) but it's known to be a pretty good time (and a pretty MASSIVE group to feed at the restaurant). This year was no exception. My dad and I split chicken parmesan for dinner (it was pretty good - but didn't even BEGIN to compare to Olive Garden) and then we saw Sherlock Holmes. The party was at the Butler's this year (since Lori and Rick had been out of town all week celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary - CONGRATULATIONS!) and was a little bit lower key than usual. I got to spend some great time conversating with Josh and Jenny though - it was fun to get to know the man that sweet Jenny Holden is going to spend the rest of her life with (and I'm pretty sure I couldn't have picked ANYONE better for her!).

Anna had the flu this year - that was a major bummer - she is definitely a home HIGHLIGHT! We did get to have coffee later in the weekend though and Anna, Daniel, Jenny, Josh and myself all enjoyed Yogurt Mill and laughter on Sunday evening before I came back to Orange County. There is something almost indescribable about 25 years of life shared with Anna and Jenny - God was VERY gracious when He put them in my life! I really couldn't ask for better LONG TIME CHILDHOOD BEST FRIENDS! We're all writing our own life stories now - but it is amazing to see how they still weave in and out of my book as main characters and will probably forever own part of my heart! TENDER!
