Christmas as Aunt Shell...

Being an aunt is literally my favorite thing in the world. I had no idea before my girls were born that I would love it so...and Christmas as an aunt is even better than every other day, which honestly is difficult to imagine since they are ALL SO GREAT!

I have treasured these last five years with miss M on Christmas morning. It means so much to me that even though Kevin and Jamie are married and have children, they've found a way to be at my parent's house for Christmas breakfast and the opening of gifts each year. There is just nothing like it. Sitting on the floor after a delicious meal of "Swope Sizzle Puffs" and other delights with the tree lights sparkling in view and the illuminated vintage Frosty bubbling away with the sounds of Mannheim Steamroller playing lightly in the background...Mom playing Santa and M helping everyone unwrap gifts - it is perfection. This year we had the added wonder of a new baby to cuddle and love - it was almost harder to watch the gifts being opened because you had to peel your eyes from her beautiful face!

Kevin and Jamie will be in Hawaii next year with Madeline and Charlotte so the holidays will look and feel a little different - there will probably be some Facetime involved and we'll definitely have the standard breakfast feast, but it will not be the same without my little and my bitty. So I thought it would be appropriate to take a look back at the best part of Christmas the last five years!
