This weekend I went to San Diego to celebrate Easter with my family. It is very interesting being an adult but still being my parent’s child! I live in Orange County and have really made my own “home” here – when I go to San Diego, I’m not really going home anymore, I’m going to visit my parents. However, since I am not married, I remain part of their immediate family unit. It is altogether strange. My brother Kevin is married to Jamie and they have a daughter, Madeline, so he falls in an entirely different category – he is an adult and is viewed as such by my parents. I wish I could have that status without having a husband. It doesn’t seem entirely fair. Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have a curfew or anything when I’m staying with the parental units, it just feels like they still get to input their opinions and I still have to meet their approval. Maybe it is really MY PROBLEM and not theirs at all. Who knows.
Anyway, the highlight of the weekend was definitely spending time with my sweet niece Madeline. She seriously gets CUTER every time I see her. She will be 10 months old this week. Crazy how quickly the time has gone. I still remember vividly the moment I found out she was born. I could cry just thinking about it. I had no idea when Jamie was pregnant with Mads that she would mean so much to me and have such an incredible impact on my life. But now it is absolutely clear, SHE OWNS MY HEART! I could look at her and talk to her and play with her and laugh with her FOREVER. LITERALLY. I’m in love.
